The Tarot: A Hidden Book of Magickal Wisdom

The Emperor (Trump IV ) from the Thoth deck

Recently, I decided I would start studying the Tarot seriously. I had a deck since I was 16, but I never really took the time to really *study* it...like card by card...and I was heavily dependent on the Little-White-Book that came with the deck. I read some earlier posts in this blog with regard to Tarot, and it's true, every, little DETAIL on the card is important: from the colours of clothing, to symbols, to the positioning of the characters in the scene, the Tarot is a Deep Well of Knowledge. It looks like a simple tool...a deck of cards, one may wonder of what spiritual use is it? How can it guide you to make better choices in your life, and help you develop spiritually, emotionally, etc.? However, I have seen that the Tarot is a very powerful tool, one that shouldn't be taken lightly. It's a hidden book in my opinion...of course this is my opinion, and there are no facts concerning exactly WHERE/WHY/HOW/etc. the Tarot originated...there are many theories, and all of them may have some truth in them. All I can say for sure is that wherever Tarot originated from, or who created it, and whteher or not it was a actually a simple deck of playing cards that became a spiritual tool or vice-versa, the Tarot is a repository for the Wisdom of the Ages. It is a spiritual tool and should be respected as such...the symbols and images on them are sacred. I have realized that in studying the 78 cards of the Tarot, it leads you into other fields of the Occult arts: Astrology, Numerology, Symbology, the Kabbala as well as other fields of study such as Mythology, Psychology, etc. The deeper you go the more you realize you have to learn...you can spend your life studying the Tarot.

I have also heard of people using them in Magick spells, to predict outcomes for spells and how it'll affect you, for timing etc. I find this to be particularly interesting as I have never considered how Tarot cards can be used in spells. But the images on the cards are very powerful and they contain very deep occult symbology...you could meditate on them for hours and come away with so many spiritual riches. Some decks are more redolent in spiritual imagery than others...the Thoth deck which was done under the direction of Aleister Crowley is a fine example. Also, each card has it's own "energy"...Aces for example are pregnant with the qualities of their elemental suits....and that's another amazing thing. The Magician in the Major Arcana can probably be considered the role model for those that practise magick everywhere: he stands for a willful, confident, strong person who bends the forces of nature to his will: he makes it happen...Air, Earth, Fire, Water all conspire to materialize his goals. The Suits of the Minor Arcana all bear the imagery of 4 predominantly used Magickal tools: Swords/ Daggers/ Athames, Pentacles, Wands/ Staffs, Chalices.

Anyway...I just thought I would make this post here because I think this is a great topic to discuss and I hope it will stimulate some discussion around here, becuz it's been way too quiet as of late. What are your thoughts, opinions, views and experiences? For those of you who have already started studying the Tarot in depth, how are you progressing, and what are some of your insights?

The Field- the quest for the secret force of the Universe

Magick only works if you believe in it. Sometimes it is not so easy to create belief in something. My rational mind always needs scientific proof that magick is possible, and I found this book which explores quantum experiments and the human mind.

The results of these experiments where very interesting, even in some cases leading the scientists to go back to occult teachings to get further direction.

The Feild, is the same force that runs through everything in the Universe which Alchemists called Ether, Christians called The Holy Spirit, and energy in some other religions. It is also called Chi, Qi and a host of other names by other cultures.
Einstien and Newton apparently knew it existed, but were unsure how to factor this Field into their equations.

Some interesting points to note from the experiments described in the book are listed below:

Any event or occurrence is influenced by the observer. That is, our expectations dictate our results.

Every manifested object, including man made ones, emits light. The amount of light emitted or absorbed in a human body must be balanced. Too little causes disease, and too much causes disease.

Any two quantum particles that have interacted can influence each other even though they are miles apart. One has an effect on the other always. That contact, once made, is never really broken.

We appear to pull thoughts and ideas from this vast field. What we process is then sent back into the field via brain waves. Those thoughts which we send in turn, are available to any one who wishes to access them.

Psychic abilities do exist. While there are some who are able to perform these abilities naturally, experiments show that with practice these talents can be done by anyone. They also outline the basic exersices which are needed to start. You already know them if you practice magick.

A persons dreams can be influenced by another person, even though they are miles apart.

What occurs in the world, is directly influenced by the collective expectations of the people.

The Field also led the author to create something called The Intention Experiment which you can find its website if you google and take part in the project if you choose.

Most interesting book, and I became excited that when the scientific process was extended to these subjects, their results matched what alchemists and other occult practioners have said for years.

Oh...got the book at Nigel R Khan...$98.50.

The Pentacle and Magick- Pt 2 – Thought Process in the Magickal Mind

I have already explained the Pentacle and the symbols of the circle, the pentagram and the meaning of each of the five points. Lets take a look at how each of these points relate to the process of a Magickal working.

In order to manifest anything at all Magickally, the spell worker must carry the intention through a particular process. Focusing on each part of the process in extremely important, and the end result of each process is also important, as any deviation from that focus will result in scattered energies. Please keep in mind that the meanings behind the symbols Spirit, Air, Fire, Water and Earth mentioned in this essay are not that only symbols that pertain to these elements and are taken in the context of the topic being discussed- which is the process of thinking the Magick.

First of all, what is the Spirit behind your spell working? Is it for improvement of yourself? Is it strictly for pleasure? Either way is okay as long as it interfears with no one else's Will, and harms no one. Remember, even though the intention is good, lets say to work a healing spell; you need to get permission from the one who you are working the spell for. Even positive spell working, without permission is seen as interfering with the Will of another, and this is not allowed in Magick. Remember always the Law of Three, and any attempts to decide what anyone else should want for themselves, will result in the same exercise in control being exhibited on you, three times over. Whatever your goal, please always attempt to construct the ritual in a way that only you are affected, with the back up phrase “ And it harm none so mote it be.” Even if you are in danger, or are trying to remove a person from your life, it is safer to do a protective spell, or an invisibility spell on yourself, than work any spell on the other person. (Invisibility spells do not render you invisible, you just would find the other person not being able to meet up with you through circumstances beyond their control)

More about the Spirit of your mind in a later blog. There are many layers to this thing.

Second, we must look at AIR. Air is the process where you have identified a problem to be solved or a goal to work on, and you sit and think of ways to achieve your aims. Air is the thinking, analyzing part of the situation. What would solve the problem? Which Path can I take? What ritual can I do? Air is where you being to work out the elements of the spell. What focus should I use? Planetary Magick? Elemental Magick? Herbs? A ritual? You must know what your mind responds to. You must know if the result you wish to accomplish is believable to you. If it is not, then you can take steps to change your belief in order to have a successful outcome. By this I can give the example of an individual applying for a position that he sees as his dream job. If there is any doubt in his mind or any insecurity, that the job is not for him, no amount of spell working will create an alternative outcome. He has already decided that it is not for him.....the fate of the spell is sealed. What ever type of Magick is used must reinforce the idea of the goal being a possibility. Air is the thinking out of what we will do to accomplish the goal.

Third we come to FIRE. Fire is the passion we put into the work, because we really want to see it come to be. How many times have we been given a task for which we have no passion, and have given it our half-baked attention, or procrastinated several times. Air can sound great, ideas can be great- but if there is no passion behind it, the chances that it would go beyond the Air stage are almost nil.

Pay attention to the work done in the Air process. At some point, while you are tossing solutions back and forth in your mind (IE, the method of spell working to be used) you may have what Oprah call an “Ah HA” moment, or the elated feeling of excitement that this is the direction you should take. And you will be quite right. This is your inner child telling you that that solution would be fun. That is your subconscious telling you that it can believe that that solution would create the outcome. That is the two-fold aspect of FIRE which you have to be aware of.

For the stage which represents WATER, our emotions are the key here. At that point in Fire, where the belief is reinforced as a greater possibility, we will usually get a flood of emotions imagining ourselves at the point of manifestation, (IE imagining ourselves in the new car, or getting the job offer) The emotions which we have at that point are key. Are they positive? Are they negative? Do they begin as positive and then become tinged with doubt? In this stage, manifestation of the thing is most probable in the instance where there is no doubt of its possibility. If there is any doubt entering your mind, then you need to address that doubt, again by finding ways to change your belief about it, and begin anew with another spell.

EARTH, is the manifestation of the thing we worked for. It is the realization that, through seemingly magickal efforts, the thing we worked a spell for has come to pass in a way that is unexpected. There is much to caution the Magick worker in the interim between Water and Earth, but again that will be dealt with in another post. Understand that Magick and Nature are one, and the way the thing becomes manifested, will be in keeping with the Laws of Nature. Its not going to pop out of the sky people, but it will appear. One example I can put my head on a block for is something I have wished for, and done such a simple spell for that it almost seemed like no spell at all.

There was an incense burner which I saw on line that I loved. I wished for it. I chanted a rhyme which asked the Goddess to add that to my cache of magickal tools. I had really forgotten about the thing when it shows up via the most unusual channel of a very Catholic family member giving one to me because she had no use for it. Someone had given it to her as a gift, and she had no clue how to use it.

Remember always, on the receipt of the thing you worked the spell for, always thank the Goddess, or God or Deity that you called on for assistance. Better still, thank the gods anyway- because you could be like me and forget that you worked the spell.....only to remember it a few days after receiving the thing.

This takes us back to where? Spirit of course! Because after the thing that you have wished for and spell worked for becomes manifest; you experience a buoyancy of Spirit and on some level, your spiritual connection to the All has been increased if only for a moment. But once the experience has been had, the chances of you believing that you can work a successful spell will increase the second time around.

Magick and Prayer

Don't panic people, the Christians have not infiltrated our blog. Nope......but I have bee thinking a lot lately about this topic, wrapping my head around what is the difference between them.

Why???

I sat through a conversation lately....not at all voluntarily or pleasantly....to hear two older heads insist that my life is messed up because I am not religious enough and I don't go to church, nad I don't pray enough.

So I started seeking again. What is prayer? It is the suplication, or plead made to a higher being to grant favours for the person. The same can be said when one works a ritua; for a particular cause.
The difference though, is in the mind-set. For prayer, there is the element called "Faith" which asks that you believe that it will be granted to you by this Higher power. For Magick there is also "Faith" that the Magcik would worl and it will be granted. In prayer however, that power is given over to some higher being, whose imagae in the mind of the person is one who may or may not grant the request. This concept of the grantor puts an element of doubt in your mind.

In Magick, the goal is to realize that your Faith, is wrapped around the strength of belief that it would happen. There is the Universe, feeding off the vibrations of your brain, and it is the strength of those vibrations which decide whether your spell or ritual will work. You and your mind are in control. Only you and your mind.

Magick teaches that the happenings of the Universe revolve around what Mind focusses on. Your events in your life revolve around what your Mind focusses on. Anything that happens to you, is so because there is something that you are focused on for yourself, and in order to make it happen for you, that particular event needs to come to pass.

Prayer leaves the power in something elses hands.....Magick brings the Power back to you. There are Christians who are able to reach that "Magickal" level within prayer, but it is not something actively taught to them. To really work Magick, you really have to be in control of your mind. More on that later.

ENERGY ALERT- Solar Eclipse on 22nd July.

July 22nd 2009 is the next Solar Eclipse. We won't see it here, but we can harness its energies in Magick.

The energies I speak about are the "end of a cycle" potent energies. Solar Eclispes happen in the New Moon, and are more potent that the Equinoxes and Solstices in there energy.....almost like a pause, before the New Beginning of a fresh start........

Her are some links for you to do some research.... I cannot say much more yet as I will be spell working at this time.

Oh...I tried to calculate the best time (the exact our time ) that the eclipse will begin...and I got 5am, for Trinidad on the 22nd July.

I will definately be up early Wednesday Morning spell working.......

You always hear " Be carefull what you wish for". Here is a perfect example of that statement.

In my haste to fix a relationship issue with my partner of eight years, I decided to cast a Love spell. Now you should never cast a love spell for someone to love you, only for true love to come into your life.

Magickal teachings hold that the spell, when worked, will take the shortest route possible to the outcome wanted. So my insanely twisted assumption was that the "true love" would come from the individual who was already there anyway. For the past couple of years, our relationship had gone cold, at least outside the bedroom door. I was hoping to open those blocked hearts and find the romantic side of it again.

I closed my eyes, centerd and cast my spell........

"Love to me I pray you bring,

By the power of love so true,

Fill my heart so it may sing,

Rejoice and let me love anew.

And it harm none to mote it be"

As I cast the spell, I had the sinking feeling that it is possible that he cannot love me as I wanted, and that the relationship could end. Why the bananas didn't I think of this before?????

The powers of Magick began moving and the arguements began...revealing many truths that I did not know, and culminating into me getting so angry that I asked him to leave.

I am guilty of bringing this on to my family. I have caused pain to my children.....

Sometimes it seems as if he is still there...he is...for the children.....but there was a moment between us as if...well... I do not want to hope.

I don't know where the Universe will take this. Sometimes I hope that this is a transition we must undergo to grow apart, and come together. Sometimes...I wish we would return to being a couple. Sometimes I want the freedom to explore things on my own....

Never Cast a spell until you have weighed out all the possibilities...and you can live with all the possibilities.....

My spell worked too darn fast...... now why doesn't the lotto one work just as quickly?

Morning Elemental Ritual

On my never ending quest for my own system, I came up with this Morning Ritual which can simply be done in about 5-7minutes.

Part One
Stand to the East, light a candle corresponding to what your focus is at the moment. (Find colour symbolism in Candle Magick for more info)
Faceing the East, assume the East / Air Guardian position (Check Raven Grimassi's Italian Witchcraft). Chant: "I thank thee Element of Air for this gift of another day." Bring hands forward in a thanksgiving motion (you decide what that is) and bow to the Air Element.
Turn South. Assume the Fire Watcher Position. " I thank thee Element of Fire, for giving me this gift of another day." Again the thanksgiving motion, and bow to the Fire Element.

Proceed with the same pattern for Water and Earth, facing West and North respectively.

Second Part: Opening your chakras with the elements.

Face East, extend your arm to the Air Element's Direction (east). Visualize a ball of air forming in your hand. Bring it to the Crown Chakra Position and visualize it just swirling there.

Face East still ( Don't move your position, just your arms), extend your arm to the Fire South Element, and visualize a ball of fire swirling in your hand. Bring this to join with the Air element above your head,

Remaining in the East facing position, visualize elements of Water and Earth, taken from their respective areas and bring them to join the others.

Now imagine Spirit....a hot white element shooting from the sky above, joining and fusing the four elements above your head in a spark of light. Take you hand, and pull the energy at the Crown Chakra from the Elemental ball, down to each of your Chakras in turn, placing your finger tips at the points for a while, and visualiziing the elemental energy swirling at the Charkra points for a while.

Chant "For the One is All, and the All is One. I thank thee God and Goddess, I thank thee elements of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. For the One is All, and the All is One.For the One is All, and the All is One.For the One is All, and the All is One.

The more I have done this elemental ritual, the more I realize the many manifestations of the elements. Sometimes the focus is on just the elements. Sometimes the focus shifts to Thought (air), Passion (fire) Emotion (water) and Manifestation (earth).
There is even correspondence to Archangels. Raphael (air), Michael (fire), Gabriel (water) and Auriel (earth)....

Elemental correspondences can shift focus on so many levels........

The most difficult part of magick

The most difficult part of doing a spell is to let go and let the bloody forces work. Especially when its something you urgently need. Its hard to not think about it while you are waiting, so I am trying to keep myself busy. Thought blogging would help but it doesn't.
Are there any Wiccans out there who deal with this problem? The one where you keep agonising if you did the spell right? Should you do it again?
Of course the aswer is NO... but I can't help wondering if the fluttered out candle was a sign that I want too much? So much for burning the candle for an hour, the wind blew it out and killed the energy......
SIGH>>>>>back to the broom stick................................

Wiccan Rede

The Wiccan rede is one of the laws we live by. Its the law to keep in mind as you go about y

our day. "And ye harm none, do what thou will"...... is the guide to choosing what's right or wrong. Think of it before you commit to any action.

Wicca speaks to us getting back in touch with our selves, our community and our environment, and living in harmony with all. We have forgotten the Earth's natural cycles. Man has begun to fight Mother NAture instead of learning to work with her. We are at war with our environment. We try to control it through rerouting the rivers, cutting the mountains, dredging the rivers and filling in the sea. Our land fights back with landslides and floods and polluted fish being sent back to us. Yet we haven't heard its complaints...we are not listening.

We fight our minds for control, we ddeny ourselves, ourselves. We try to become what others expect of us not realizing that we are dishonouring what the God and Goddes have created. We need to work in harmany....we need to see the miracles in everyday life.

The more in tune with oursleves and our environment we are, the more synchronocity is evident in our lives. This is the "Magick" we seek...we help that magick through spells "prayer". We align our unconcious selves with our concoius selves. We trim the hated, the toxic, the negative from our lives and leave the calm.....

Wicca is about learning. Only those willing to make the commitment to learn will find the magick..........
